The Second City to open arts series' 60th season

The Hanover College Community Arts Series will launch its 60th-anniversary season with the legendary comedy troupe, The Second City Touring Company. The performance takes place Friday, Sept. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in Parker Auditorium.

A two-time Emmy Award winner and multiple nominee, The Second City has become an international phenomenon by making its mark in live theatre, motion pictures and television. Celebrating its 50th year, The Second City entertains more than a million guests each year while performing at resident companies in Chicago and Toronto, as well as national touring companies at festivals, colleges and universities around the world.

The troupe started as a theatre club in the 1950s by a group of students from the University of Chicago. The cast boasts a list of alumni that includes such superstars as Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Mike Myers, Bill Murray, Ryan Stiles, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, John Belushi, Dan Ackroyd, Gilda Radner, John Candy and Eugene Levy.

Advance tickets for The Second City’s performance cost $20 for adults, $18 for senior citizens (65+) and $5 for youths (high school and younger). Tickets will cost $25 the day of the performance.

Adult season tickets for the series, which also includes Hanover’s theatre productions, are available for $90 through Sept. 14. A season pass for youths ages 6-18 is available for $25.
