Two second-half goals kept the Hanover College women’s soccer team unbeaten at 4-0, as they slipped past Heidelberg University (Ohio), 2-0. The match was held Saturday, Sept. 8, at L.S. Ayres Athletic Complex.
The Panthers kept "The Berg” goalkeeper Julie Cross busy with a 37 shots, including 13 shots on goal. Seven Panthers took three or more shots, with sophomore forward Tricia Walsh (Amelia, Ohio) leading the charge with nine attempts at the net.
In contrast, the Hanover defense held Heidelberg to one shot.
Walsh, a multi-sport athlete, scored from 18 yards out in the 52nd minute to put the Panthers on the scoreboard.
Freshman forward Anne-Spice Adams (Midway, Ky.) scored her team-leading third goal in as many matches. Adams converted a pass from freshman forward Rachel Alvis (Cincinnati, Ohio) from just inside the six-yard box in the 70th minute for the final margin.
