Hanover College’s men’s and women’s cross country squads competed in the Indiana Intercollegiate Championships (Little State). The annual event, which features all four-year colleges and universities in the state, was held Friday, Sept. 14, in Terre Haute, Ind.
Hanover finished 13th among 19 schools in the 73rd-annual running of the men’s Little State.
Freshman Drew Elston (Carmel, Ind.) was 52nd in 27:50 to lead the Panthers. Sophomore Logan Wells (Scottsburg, Ind.) placed 60th, covering the eight-kilometer course in 28:02. Junior Brendan Kelly (Indianapolis, Ind.) finished 84th with a time of 29:07.
Hanover totaled 377 points in the meet. The University of Southern Indiana captured the team crown with 32 points and the University of Indianapolis placed second with 77.
Southern Indiana’s Michael Jordan was first overall in 25:07.
Hanover was seventh out of 18 schools in the 32nd-annual women’s Little State.
Freshman Kaleigh DeBeck (Cromwell, Ind.) finished 27th with a time of 19:58 to pace the squad. Freshman Rachel Smith (Brownsburg, Ind.) toured the five-kilometer course in 20:25 to place 43rd, while freshman Teresa Wiczynski (Columbus, Ind.) was 48th in 20:37.
Hanover tallied 235 points. Indianapolis was first in the team chase with 59 points. Southern Indiana was second with 67 points.
Franklin College’s Hillary Cain was the top individual in 18:30.
