Juniors Dexter Britt (Louisville, Ky.) and Kylie Justus (Crawfordsville, Ind.), along with sophomore Brooke McKay (Carmel, Ind.), have been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference athletes of the week in their respective sports.
Britt, a quarterback, threw for a career-high 399 yards to lead Hanover College’s football team to a come-from-behind, 28-24, victory against the College of Mount St. Joseph (Ohio), Sept. 15, at L.S. Ayres Field.
Britt completed 33-of-48 passes with three touchdowns and a pair of interceptions to help the Panthers record the squad’s first win of the season (1-2; 1-0 HCAC). He was 16-of-21 for 283 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the second half as Hanover rallied from a 24-9 deficit late in the third quarter.
Justus, a defensive specialist, was named the Heartland Conference’s volleyball defensive player of the week. She averaged 6.2 digs per set to lead the Panthers (7-7) to a 3-2 record during the past week.
Justus totaled 99 digs in five matches, including 33 in a four-set win against the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology to help the Panthers finish the DePauw Invitational with a 3-1 mark.
McKay led Hanover’s women’s golf team to a third-place finish at the Manchester College Invitational, Sept. 15. She tied for sixth place among 80 golfers with an 85.
The Panthers placed third out of nine schools in the tournament and finished just two strokes off the top spot with a 358.
