The Hanover College volleyball squad opened its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference slate with a three-set victory against Earlham College. The HCAC match was held Wednesday, Sept. 19, in Richmond, Ind.
Hanover defeated Earlham 25-17, 25-12, 25-16, to improve to 8-7 on the season. The Panthers have now won four of their last five outings.
Senior outside hitter Sarah Quebe (Indianapolis, Ind.) and sophomore outside hitter Jenny Merritt (Indianapolis, Ind.) tallied seven kills apiece to power the Panthers’ attack.
Junior Kelsey Wagner (Taylor Mill, Ky.) and freshman Alli Deaton (Lexington, Ky.) combined for 31 assists to fuel the offense.
Junior return specialist Kylie Justus (Crawfordsville, Ind.) notched team highs with 14 digs and three aces.
With the setback, Earlham fell to 5-7 overall and 0-1 in the league.
