The Hanover College volleyball team split matches against Manchester University and Asbury University (Ky.), Saturday, Sept. 29, in Collier Arena.
Hanover swept Manchester, 3-0, in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference clash to open the day. The Panthers, now 2-1 in the HCAC, handled the Spartans, 25-13, 25-9, 25-19.
Senior outside Sarah Quebe (Indfianapolis, Ind.) tallied nine kills, while senior outside hitter Ashleigh Burakiewicz (Greenwood, Ind.) and sophomore outside hitter Jenny Merritt (Indianapolis, Ind.) had eight kills apiece to fuel Hanover’s attack.
Junior Kylie Justus (Crawforsville, Ind.) totaled 18 digs, while junior setter Kelsey Wagner (Taylor Mill, Ky.) added 13 digs and also posted 20 assists.
Quebe, Burakiewicz and freshman middle hitter Maggie Huffer (Indianapolis, Ind.) each had three block assists.
Manchester dipped to 9-9 overall and 0-2 in the conference with the setback.
Hanover, 12-10 overall this season, fell to Asbury, 3-2, in a non-conference match in the nightcap. The Eagles (9-7) held off the Panthers, 25-20, 14-25, 21-25, 27-25, 15-12.
Quebe had a match-high 17 kills, while Burakiewicz had 13 and freshman outside hitter Rachel Regenauer (Louisville, Ky.) notched a season-best 12 kills to spur the offense.
Freshman setter Alli Deaton (Lexington, Ky.) posted her season high with 27 assists.
Freshman middle hitter Nicole Hoene (Seymour, Ind.) collected two solo blocks and five assists, while Justus led the Panthers with 23 digs.
