Sophomore midfielder Erin Hancock (Amelia, Ohio) and senior linebacker Andy Dalton (Guilford, Ind.) have been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference players of the week in soccer and football.
Hancock, who comes off the Panthers’ bench, scored three goals and added an assist to help Hanover’s women’s squad post two victories last week.
She scored both goals to lead the Panthers to a 2-1 win against Capital University (Ohio), Sept. 24. She followed with one goal and an assist to lead Hanover to a 2-0 victory against Manchester University in the teams’ Heartland Conference opener, Sept. 29.
The Panthers have won three straight matches and are 8-2 overall this season.
Dalton was credited with seven solo tackles, seven assists and a key fumble recovery in overtime to lead Hanover’s football team to a come-from-behind, 33-27, victory against the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Sept. 29.
Dalton tallied six of his tackles in the second half and smothered a fumble on the Engineers’ overtime possession to hand the Panthers’ offense an opportunity to earn the win.
He has 56 tackles this season and leads the Heartland Conference with 14.0 tackles per game.
Hanover has won two straight games to improve to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in the HCAC.
