Hanover College junior quarterback Dexter Britt (Louisville, Ky.) and senior wide receiver Daniel Passafiume (Louisville, Ky.) have been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference’s offensive and special teams players of the week, respectively.
Britt completed 23-of-30 passes for 342 yards and a career-high five touchdowns to lead Hanover to a 54-14 victory against Anderson University, Oct. 6. He also scored on a one-yard plunge in the third quarter.
Britt, who earned the HCAC’s weekly honor for the second time this fall, has completed 122-of-187 passes for 1,279 yards and 13 touchdowns this season. He has also rushed for 66 yards and two scores.
Passafiume opened the second half of action with an 89-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to earn the league’s special teams player-of-the-week honor.
The return for a touchdown was the second of Passafiume’s career. He also hit paydirt on an 84-yard kick return in a 2010 game at Franklin College.
Passafiume caught seven passes for 78 yards, including four- and 32-yard touchdown receptions, to help fuel the victory at Anderson.
He leads the Panthers' receivers with 50 catches for 419 yards and four touchdowns.
Hanover has won its last three games to improve to 3-2 overall and 3-0 in the Heartland Conference. The Panthers will face Bluffton University (Ohio), Saturday, Oct. 13, in Bluffton, Ohio.
