The Hanover College men’s basketball squad has been selected to place third in the battle for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference’s 2012-13 title.
Hanover earned 76 points to land behind Transylvania University (Ky.) and the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in a pre-season polling of the league’s 10 head coaches.
Last season, the Panthers posted a 16-9 record and finished second in the Heartland Conference with a 12-6 mark.
Transylvania claimed the top spot in the coaches’ poll with 97 points, including seven first-place votes. Rose-Hulman had 92 points and three first-place votes.
Hanover will begin its 2012-13 season Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 17-18, with a two games in Collier Arena. The Panthers will tip off the season against Oberlin College (Ohio) at 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17. The squad will face Denison University (Ohio) at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 18.
Hanover will host Centre College (Ky.), Sunday, Nov. 25, in the annual John R. Collier Classic. The Panthers will then battle Butler University, Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind.
Hanover’s first Heartland Conference outing will be Saturday, Dec. 1, against Manchester University. The game will begin at 3 p.m. in Collier Arena.
