Hanover College senior forward Courtney Prater (Anderson, Ind.) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference’s player of the week for her effort in the Panthers’ four games through the holidays.
Prater averaged 20.0 points and 6.0 rebounds to help Hanover post a 3-1 record through two contests in southern California (Dec. 18-19) and a pair of games in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic in Montgomery, Ala. (Dec. 28-29).
She tallied 18 points and five rebounds in a 109-104 victory at the University of La Verne (Calif.), Dec. 18, and followed with 25 points and 13 boards in a 90-74 loss at the University of Redlands (Calif.), Dec. 19.
Prater chalked up 23 points and six rebounds to help Hanover erase a 28-point second-half deficit in an 80-77 triumph against Centre College (Ky.), Dec. 28. In the contest, she became the 13th player in Hanover history to record more than 1,000 career points.
She added 14 points in an 80-74 victory against Mississippi College, Dec. 29.
This season, Prater leads Hanover in scoring and rebounding. She is averaging a career-high 17.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
Hanover is 9-3 overall and 3-2 in the Heartland Conference. The Panthers return to the hardwood, Saturday, Jan. 5, for a league battle with Bluffton University (Ohio). The game will start at 2 p.m. in Collier Arena.
