Junior Robert Bader (Louisville, Ky.) earned medalist honors to lead Hanover College’s men’s golf squad to the team title at the Hanover Spring Invitational. The second round of the 36-hole tournament was played Sunday, April 7, at Shadowood Golf Course in Seymour, Ind.
Hanover totaled 618 strokes (306-312) to hold off the University of Northwestern Ohio by seven shots (625: 315-310). Franklin College was third in the 11-team field with 629 (327-302).
Bader fired a tournament-low one-under 71 in the final 18 holes to capture first among 78 athletes in the field with a 145 (74-71).
He was four strokes ahead of the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology’s Sanders Park, who posted a 149 (75-74), and six shots in front of Franklin’s Mitch Oard (151: 79-72).
Hanover sophomore Matt Ehman (Noblesville, Ind.), playing as an individual in the event, placed fifth with a two-day total of 153 (77-76).
Junior Terry Smith (Peru, Ind.) turned in a 10th-place finish for the Panthers with a 156 (75-81). Sophomore Patric Geary (Clarksville, Ind.) was 19th after shooting 159 (80-79) and senior Marcus El (Indianapolis, Ind.) finished 25th with a 161 (77-84).
Sophomore Nico Mingione (Lexington, Ind.) posted a non-scoring total of 164 (83-81) and placed 32nd.
