Hanover College junior Robert Bader (Louisville, Ky.) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference’s men’s golfer of the week.
Bader earned medalist honors to lead the Panthers to the team title at the Hanover Spring Invitational. The annual tournament was played April 6-7 at Shadowood Golf Course in Seymour, Ind.
Bader fired a one-over 145 in the 36-hole tourney to win the individual crown by four strokes. He posted a two-over 74 on the opening day, then closed with a tournament-low round of 71 on the 6,724-yard course.
Hanover totaled 618 strokes (306-312) to win the championship by seven shots. The University of Northwestern Ohio (625: 315-310) was second in the 11-team field, while Franklin College was third (629: 327-302).
The tournament title is the second for Bader in his career. He also captured medalist honors at the College of Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) Invitational, March 19-20, 2011.
He has 17 career top-10 finishes, including six second-place finishes. He was second overall at the Centre College (Ky.) Invitational and Franklin’s Dick Park Invitational this past fall.
