Junior Robert Bader (Louisville, Ky.) earned a top-20 finish to lead Hanover College’s men’s golf team in its fall opening match.
Hanover totaled 639 strokes to place 14th among 19 schools at the Transylvania University (Ky.) Fall Invitational, played at the University of Kentucky Club's Big Blue Course.
The Panthers shot a 317 in the first round and closed with a 322. Bader led the effort with a one-under-par 71 in the opening round. He finished with a 149 (71-78).
Freshman Johnny Vidal (Harrison, Ohio) was 64th with a 159 (79-80) in his first collegiate tournament. Classmate P.J. Greene (Mason, Ohio) fired back-to-back rounds of 81 (162) for a 79th-place finish. Sophomore Patric Geary (Clarksville, Ind.) was 99th in a 118-golfer field with a 169 (86-83).
The College of Mount St Joseph (Ohio) earned the team championship with a 588 (287-301). Rhodes College (Tenn.) was second with 591 (293-298) and Wittenberg University (Ohio) finished third with 592 (298-294).
Ohio Wesleyan University’s Chris Pavelic was the tournament medalist with a one-under 143 (73-70).
