Sophomore Erika Shepherd (Jeffersonville, Ind.) shared medalist honors to lead Hanover College’s women’s golf team to a third-place finish at the Jim English Invitational. The 18-hole tourney was played at the Danville Country Club in Danville, Ky.
Shepherd fired a three-over 76, including a tournament-low 34 on the front nine. She tied with Leah Pehlke from Bellarmine University (Ky.) and was one five Hanover players to finish in the top 20.
Freshman Brittany Gingerich (Millersburg, Ind.) was 10th with an 84, while junior Shelby Schneider (Boonville, Ind.) placed 18th with an 87. Freshman Devan Smith (Depauw, Ind.) finished 19th after posting an 89 and sophomore Alli Lindenschmidt (Indianapolis, Ind.) was one stroke behind in 20th place (90).
Hanover totaled 336 strokes to finish 21 shots behind Bellarmine, which claimed the team championship with 315. Host Centre College (Ky.), was second with 330.
