Hanover College’s men’s golf team notched a sixth-place finish at the Jim English Invitational. The annual 18-hole event was played at the Danville Country Club in Danville, Ky.
Hanover totaled 313 strokes to finish 22 shots behind tourney-champion Spalding University (Ky.), which posted a 291 to land four strokes ahead of host Centre College (Ky.) to claim the title.
Junior Nico Mingione (Lexington, Ind.) led a cluster of four Hanover players within three strokes of each other. Mingione fired a five-over 77 to place 27th. Senior Brad Baumann (Floyds Knobs, Ind.) was just one shot back and finished 30th with a 78.
Senior Terry Smith (Peru, Ind.) and freshman Johnny Vidal (Harrison, Ohio) shared 35th place after both Panthers turned in a 79.
Centre’s John Minton, playing as an individual, captured medalist honors with a four-under 68 on the 6,405-yard course.
