The Hanover College volleyball squad lost its final two matches in the Purple Raider Classic in Alliance, Ohio.
Hanover, now 4-6 this season, tipped off the second day of action with a 25-19, 30-32, 25-15, 25-19, loss to ninth-ranked event host University of Mount Union (Ohio). The Panthers fell to Case Western Reserve University (Ohio), 25-18, 25-13, 25-21, in the finale.
In the setback against Mount Union, sophomores Rachel Hasewinkel (Sheridan, Ind.), Rachel Regenauer (Peewee Valley, Ky.) and Maggie Huffer (Indianapolis, Ind.) each registered double-digit kills to spark the Panthers’ effort.
Hasewinkel, who was named to the all-tournament team, led Hanover with 14 kills, while Regenauer had 13 and Huffer posted a season-high 10.
Freshman outside hitter Molly Murphy (Hilliard, Ohio) racked up a season-best 25 assists and sophomore setter Alli Deaton (Lexington, Ky.) added 13.
Senior back-row mates Kylie Justus (Crawfordsville, Ind.) and Megan Keller (Cleves, Ohio) tallied 17 digs apiece, while sophomore Maddie Hartman (Madison, Ind.) added 12.
Mount Union improved to 12-0 with the victory.
Hasewinkel had seven kills to lead the Panthers against Case Western. Junior middle hitter Sarah Hasewinkel (Sheridan, Ind.), junior outside hitter Taylor Miller (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Regenauer added four kills apiece.
Deaton had 11 assists, while Justus notched 15 digs and Hartman chipped in 10 to pace the defense.
