Hanover College’s women’s tennis teamed opened its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule with a 7-2 victory at Anderson University.
The Panthers, now 1-1 this fall, opened with wins in all three doubles matches, then claimed four of the six singles battles to snap a two-match skid against Anderson.
Senior Danielle Miller (Fairway, Kansas) and freshman Mackenzie Spicer (Indianapolis, Ind.) teamed for an 8-4 win against the Ravens' Courtney Postmus and Ashlan Millikan at No. 1 doubles.
Miller later defeated Postmus, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 singles, while Spicer defeated Sylvia Schering, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 2.
Sophomores Kelsey Jones (Hanover, Ind.) and Allison Poston (Attica, Ind.) also earned a pair of victories.
Jones held off Anderson's Michaela Hurd, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 4 singles. Poston outlasted Michaela Hammel, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7, at No. 5.
Jones and Poston also combined to defeat Hammel and Schering, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles.
