Hanover College’s women’s tennis team notched an 8-1 triumph against Thomas More College (Ky.) in the squad’s home-opener at the Zeddies Tennis Center.
Hanover, now 2-1 this season, posted wins in all three doubles battles, then followed with victories in five of the six singles matches.
Senior Danielle Miller (Fairway, Kansas) and freshman Mackenzie Spicer (Indianapolis, Ind.) led the charge in singles action.
Miller defeated Thomas More’s Maria Pascual, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 1 singles, while Spicer handled the Saints’ Brigid Burwinkel, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 2.
Freshman Mallory Noble (Fishers, Ind.) posted a 6-2, 6-3, victory against Thomas More’s Anna Hetzer at No. 4. Sophomore Kelsey Jones (Hanover, Ind.) rolled past Melissa McMullen, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5 and sophomore Allison Poston (Attica, Ind.) blanked the Saints’ Madison White, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6.
Jones and junior Kalynne Miller (Greenwood, Ind.) keyed Hanover’s sweep at doubles with an 8-1 triumph against McMullen and White at No. 3.
Poston and Noble paired for an 8-4 win against Block and Hetzer at No. 2, while Miller and Spicer combined to defeat Pascual and Paige Thoerner, 8-2, at No. 1.
Thomas More slipped to 5-3 with the setback.
