Hanover College’s women’s golf team sits just two strokes out of first place after the opening round of the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Invitational. The 36-hole tourney is being held at Rea Park Golf Course in Terre Haute, Ind.
Hanover totaled 337 strokes to fall behind host Rose-Hulman (335) and ahead of Franklin College (348) in the eight-team field.
Junior Brooke McKay (Carmel, Ind.) is second among 39 golfers with a seven-over 79 on the par-72, 5,803-yard course.
Freshman Brittany Gingerich (Millersburg, Ind.) is tied for fourth with a first-round 83. Senior Sloane Hamilton (Mason, Ohio) is 12th overall after an 86 and sophomore Erika Shepherd (Jeffersonville, Ind.) landed in 20th place with an 89.
Rose-Hulman’s Erin Scully is the top individual after the opening round. Scully fired a 78.
