Men's soccer falls to No. 2 Ohio Wesleyan

Hanover College’s men’s soccer squad dropped a 4-0 decision to nationally ranked Ohio Wesleyan University.

Ohio Wesleyan, ranked No. 2 in the nation, fired just six shots, but converted all four shots on goal in the contest.

Hanover’s defense held the Battling Bishops (10-0) scoreless until the 38th minute, when an errant header bounced back into the net for an own goal and a 1-0 deficit for the Panthers (3-5-1).

Ohio Wesleyan added to the cushion in the 44th minute when junior goalie Trevor Korfhagen (Cincinnati, Ohio) went one-on-one against the Bishops' charging Evan Lee.

The Battling Bishops added a third goal in the 66th minute on a chip shot by Paolo Bucci out of traffic from the front of the box.

Ohio Wesleyan netted the final goal in the 78th minute on a looping attempt from 30 yards out which dropped just under the cross bar.

Hanover had eight shots, including six in the second period, but just one shot on goal in the match. Freshman forward Mathew Eldridge (Louisville, Ky.) led the effort with three shots.
