Hanover College’s volleyball squad claimed one of two matches in Danville, Ky. The Panthers defeated Birmingham-Southern College (Ala.), 3-0, then fell to host Centre College (Ky.), 3-1, in the second match.
Hanover, now 8-10 this season, swept Birmingham-Southern, 25-20, 25-14, 25-14.
Sophomore outside hitter Rachel Hasewinkel (Sheridan, Ind.) led the Panthers with seven kills, while sophomores Nicole Blevins (McCordsville, Ind.) and Rachel Regenauer (Peewee Valley, Ky.) added six kills apiece.
Junior setter Alli Deaton (Lexington, Ky.) tallied a team-high 21 assists and freshman outside hitter Molly Murphy (Hilliard, Ohio) had seven.
Senior defensive specialist Kylie Justus (Crawfordsville, Ind.) led the Panthers’ back row effort with 16 digs. Sophomore Maddie Hartman (Madison, Ind.) posted 15.
Birmingham-Southern slipped to 11-4 with the loss.
Hanover fell to Centre, 25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 25-14, in the afternoon finale.
Hasewinkel led the attack at the net with 12 kills. She also tallied seven digs and two block assists. Regenauer had nine kills and Blevins added eight.
Deaton and Murphy combined for 31 assists. Deaton had a team-leading 19, while Murphy notched 12.
Justus led the Panthers with 17 digs, while Hartman had 12.
The win was the fourth in a row for Centre, which raised its record to 10-2 with the victory.
