The Hanover College volleyball defeated Bluffton University (Ohio), 25-23, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23 in tight battle to maintain fourth place in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Homecoming victory improves the Panthers' record to 12-13 overall and 3-2 in the HCAC.
Three Hanover players piloted the defensive effort with double-digit digs. Senior Kylie Justus (Crawfordsville, Ind.) and sophomore Rachel Hasewinkel (Sheridan, Ind.) each had 14, while sophomore Maddie Hartman (Madison, Ind.) tallied 10.
Hasewinkel also collected a team-high 15 kills and three aces.
Sophomore Rachel Regenaur (Peewee Valley, Ky.) had 14 kills to accompany four digs, one solo block and one block assist.
Middle hitter Maggie Huffer (Indianapolis, Ind.), a sophomore, tallied one solo block and three block assists to lead a front line that turned in two solo blocks and 12 block assists.
Freshman Molly Murphy (Hilliard, Ohio) and sophomore Alli Deaton (Lexington, Ky.) each passed double-digit assists, placing 13 and 15, respectively.
With the loss, Bluffton falls to 10-14 overall and 2-3 in the Heartland Conference.
