Freshman forward Elaine Simpson (Lexington, Ky.) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference’s women’s soccer player of the week for the second time this fall.
Simpson scored three goals and added an assist as Hanover College’s squad locked up the Heartland Conference’s regular-season title with two league wins in the past week.
She had one goal and an assist in the Panthers’ 6-1 win against Franklin College, Oct. 29. She followed with two goals in a 6-0 triumph against Defiance College (Ohio), Nov 2.
This season, Simpson is second on the Panthers in scoring with 18 points. She has seven goals and four assists.
Hanover (15-1-2; 8-0-1 HCAC) earned the No. 1 seed in the HCAC tournament. The Panthers will host the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, in a semifinal battle.
Tickets for the contest cost $6 for adults and $5 for senior citizens and students, while children ages 11 and younger will be admitted free.
Tickets for college students, faculty and staff are free with school their school identification card.
