Hanover falls at Eckerd, 8-1

Hanover College’s women’s tennis team dropped a winter break match against Eckerd College (Fla.), 8-1, in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Eckerd (1-4) posted wins in all six singles matches. Hanover (14-5) claimed one of three doubles matches.

Freshman Mackenzie Spicer (Indianapolis, Ind.) and classmate Mallory Noble (Fishers, Ind.) competed in three-set battles before falling in singles play.

Spicer lost to the Tritons’ Carson Trapp, 3-6, 6-2, 10-5, at No. 2. Noble was defeated by Emily Fridrik, 4-6, 6-4, 10-3, at No. 4.

Senior Danielle Miller (Fairway, Kansas) and Spicer teamed in a close doubles battle. The duo was edged by Eckerd’s Trapp and Gipson Hawn, 9-8 (7-3) at No. 1.
