Senior Robert Bader (Louisville, Ky.) earned his second consecutive Hanover Invitational title and led Hanover College’s men’s golf squad to a second-place finish. The 36-hole tournament was held at Shadowood Golf Course in Seymour, Ind.
Bader, who has three top-two finishes in the annual event, posted back-to-back rounds of 70 to end with a school-record four-under-par 140 (70-70) and win medalist honors by five strokes.
Hanover totaled a school-record 596 (297-299) to land eight shots behind Davenport University (Iowa) for the team crown. Davenport, spurred by five golfers in the top 10, fired a combined 588 (293-295).
The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology was third among eight teams with a 608 (308-300).
Freshman P.J. Greene (Mason, Ohio), who earned his second consecutive top-four finish, had a 148 (72-76) on the 6,724-yard course. Junior Patric Geary (Clarksville, Ind.) and freshman Johnny Vidal (Harrison, Ohio) tied for 20th among 69 golfers. Both players posted a 154. Geary had a three-over 75 in the second round, while Vidal closed with a 78.
Junior Matt Ehman (Noblesville, Ind.) completed Hanover’s quintet. He placed 53rd with a 166 (82-84).
Sophomore Jaron Stiers (Middletown, Ind.) and senior Brad Baumann (Floyds Knobs, Ind.), playing as individuals, each notched top-20 finishes. Stiers was 13th with two straight rounds of 76 (152). Baumann shared 20th with Geary and Vidal after posting a 154 (76-78).
The University of Northwestern Ohio’s Keith Long placed second overall with a 145 (71-74). Davenport’s Jorge Benitez posted a 146 (73-73) for third place.
