Shepherd, Gingerich lead golfers at Big Four Classic

Sophomores Erika Shepherd (Jeffersonville, Ind.) and Brittany Gingerich (Millersburg, Ind.) each posted top-eight finishes to lead Hanover College’s women’s golf team to a third-place finish in the Big Four Classic at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.

Hanover posted a 352 to claim third place in the annual event. Butler University was first with 312. DePauw University finished second with 330 and Franklin College was fourth with 362.

Shepherd placed sixth after firing an 82 on the 5,877-yard course. Gingerich had an 85 to land in eighth place.

Freshman Devan Smith (Depauw, Ind.) was 14th with a 90 and sophomore Brittany Mosteller (Indianapolis, Ind.) was 20th overall with a 95.

Butler’s Isabella Lambert earned medalist honors with a three-over-par 75. She defeated teammate Jenna Peters in a sudden-death playoff.
