Hanover College’s women’s golf squad completed its second round in the NCAA III championship in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The second day of competition was hampered by more than four hours of weather-related delays and play was eventually suspended due to darkness.
Hanover totaled 351 strokes in the continued round. The squad sits in 15th place among 21 teams in the field with a 709 (358-351).
Junior Brooke McKay (Carmel, Ind.) was the last of the Panthers to finish the second round. McKay turned in a nine-over 81, including two birdies and six pars. She is tied for 37th place with a two-round total of 166 (85-81).
Sophomore Erika Shepherd (Jeffersonville, Ind.) finished the second round with her second consecutive round of 89, including par on six holes. She is 67th overall with a 178 (89-89).
Freshman Devan Smith (DePauw, Ind.) fired an 88 in the second round. She is tied for 74th out of 111 golfers with a 181 (93-88).
Sophomore Brittany Gingerich (Millersburg, Ind.) slipped 19 spots in the standings with a second-round 101. She is 90th overall with a 192 (91-101).
Sophomore Brittany Mosteller (Indianapolis, Ind.) shaved 11 strokes off her first-day outing and finished with a 93. She sits in 96th place with a 197 (104-93).
Weather permitting, the 72-hole tournament's third round will begin one hour after the completion of the early-morning round.
