Hanover student killed in car crash

Hanover College junior Jennifer Lundergan died shortly before 8 a.m., Monday, Aug. 4, 2014 as a result of a fatal car crash on Highway 36 in Trimble County, Ky.

Kentucky State Troopers said the 21-year-old Huntingburg, Ind., native was driving a mini-van toward Milton, Ky., and attempted to pass another vehicle. Lundergan crashed head-on into an oncoming vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers say the foggy conditions could have contributed to the cause. The crash is under investigation at this time.

A biology major, Lundergan was working for Assistant Professor of Biology Brian Gall and living on campus at the time of her death.

Visitation will take place Saturday, Aug. 9 from 5-8 p.m. at McAdams Mortuary in Paoli, Ind. The funeral service will be Sunday, Aug. 10 at 1 p.m.

Hanover administrators will be in touch with the family for an on-campus memorial service to be held after the school year begin and that is reflective of their wishes. The College will also work with those students currently on campus who may be affected by the tragedy.
