Child Care Advisory Board

The seven members of the Childcare Advisory Board are appointed on an annual basis by the President of the college, and may serve on the board a maximum of three years. The Childcare Advisory Board is an administrative body responsible for advising the President and the College on matters regarding the Center for Child Development. These matters include preparation and approval of an annual budget, setting enrollment and fee guidelines, the hiring and monitoring of the center director, and planning for the future of the Center. Other duties include fund raising, surveying the college community's childcare needs, maintenance of the facility and grounds, and development of long range goals.

The Hanover College Center for Child Development provides childcare for faculty and staff of Hanover College and for community members. Teachers at the center stimulate and challenge children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development in a secure and supportive environment. The Center for Child Development serves children from 0 to 3 years of age in the Infant and Toddler Center and children from 3 to 5 years of age in the Preschool Center. Both centers are located on campus.

We encourage Hanover College students to become involved in the Center for Child Development. Student involvement could include: volunteering as a student worker, creating short programs for children or staff (e.g., a series of lessons in a foreign language), conducting observations or research, and completing the "early childhood" or "non profit" Career Connections Programs (CCPs) or serving as a summer intern. We welcome hearing from students with a variety of interests, ranging from child development to family life to teaching and learning processes to the humanities.
