Welcome from the President - Dr. Sue DeWine

President Sue DeWine Welcome to the Hanover College website
College will be one of the most memorable and exciting times of your life. You will want to be at a college where you will make lasting friendships, receive an outstanding education, and have many opportunities to participate in sports, social life, clubs and travel. You will want to go to a college that makes you feel at home. Hanover College is that kind of college.

U.S. News and World Report ranks our academic program among the top 100 best liberal arts colleges in the nation. Founded in 1827, Hanover is the oldest private college in Indiana, rich in tradition, with an extraordinary history of academic excellence and student achievement. Employers and graduate schools highly regard our alumni because they are accomplished, well-rounded, team-oriented leaders.

What you learn outside the classroom is just as important as what you learn inside. Our co-curricular opportunities include outstanding cultural events, Division III sports and many activities and clubs. Perhaps you'll participate in the annual wiffleball tournament or Hike to The Point; join a Greek organization, sing in the choir, or travel internationally on a study tour. Perhaps you'll start a tradition of your own and get others to participate. Hanover alumni talk about these activities and we expect you to add to that long tradition.

Best of all are the relationships you will develop. Your fellow students come from interesting backgrounds and have a multitude of talents and skills that will enhance your own learning opportunities. There are real-world faculty experts in 28 individual disciplines and a significant number with international backgrounds. You will find that the faculty care deeply about their students and they become life long mentors.

Hanover College is located on a bluff overlooking the Ohio River. The spectacular view of the river valley, coupled with expansive green space and shaded walkways, make it one of the ten most beautiful campuses in the nation. We also offer cutting edge science and recreation facilities and comfortable classroom and residential living spaces. Many faculty and staff members live in the surrounding residential area. The sense of community is extended to the small town of Madison, Indiana with its historical homes, shops, and other tourist attractions, just ten minutes away from campus.

The above characteristics of Hanover College are some of the reasons I choose to become its new President. In my first month on campus I have experienced first hand the sense of coming home. If you would like to know what the Hanover experience is like just ask one of our more than 16,000 alumni. If you would like talk to someone in your home area contact Mike Brown, our assistant director of admissions, at 1-800-213-2178 ext. 7024 or at brown@hanover.edu.

There is no substitute for visiting the campus. You must see it to believe it. It's just a short drive from Indianapolis, Louisville or Cincinnati. Come visit and let us show you what Hanover College can offer you.
