Classics is worth studying in itself and at the same time is a good foundation for future education. Graduate study in Classics is always possible, particularly if the student is interested in high school teaching. (In fact, at the moment there is a serious shortage of high school Latin teachers.) A major in Classics is also a good choice for students interested in going into many other fields. It is especially helpful for those students intending to go on to law school.
