Music Scholarships

Music scholarships are available for participation in band, orchestral instruments, voice, and piano. Prospective music majors, prospective music minors, non-majors/minors are eligible for scholarships by participating in performing ensembles and private applied lessons.

Eligibility
Scholarships awarded to selected music majors and non majors are renewed based on accomplishment in the music program as determined by the music faculty.

Auditions
The application for admission serves as the application for music scholarships. Auditions take place during the annual Music Scholarship Audition Days on the Hanover College campus, planned and coordinated each year by the Music Department.

Stipends
All music scholarship awards range from $500 to $3,500 and are renewable each year and the discretion of the music faculty based on accomplishment and end-of-year evaluation.

Audition Requirements
Candidates must bring with them to the audition a recommendation letter from their music instructor. Auditions are held at the Lynn Center for Fine Arts at Hanover College. Candidates should be prepared to present and or demonstrate three contrasting works and sight reading.

Instrumentalists: Memory Optional
Vocalists and pianists: Memory Encouraged

Candidates for music scholarships who choose to perform with accompaniment must provide their own accompanist or use a pre-recorded DC or tape. (For CD or tape, only keyboard is acceptable for a pre-recorded accompaniment.). Audition material must be from standard concert repertory and demonstrate the performer's musical and technical abilities. "Pop" and/or "Rock" styles are not acceptable audition material.
