Theatre Travel

Hanover College Theatre has a strong record of participation in the KC/ACTF. Four HCT productions have been selected for presentation in the national Jennifer Wills, class of 2000, was the winner of the playwriting competition and her script, Moving Day, was selected for presentation at the Region III Festival in January 2001.  Steven Laing, class of 2005 and his script Dr. Ra was selected by the National Playwriting Program for a staged reading at the festival in 2006.

In the four-week Spring Term, each Hanover student takes only one course, which provides opportunity for intensive study of some aspect of a discipline. Our Contemporary Theatre course has traveled to see theatre in New York City, Stratford (Ontario), Chicago, and cities throughout the states surrounding Hanover.

In alternate years, students may live and study Shakespeare while in residence in Stratford, England, for the entire term. Actors, directors and staff from the Royal Shakespeare Company visit those classes to discuss plays seen and to present workshops. Other classes are conducted by scholars from the University of Birmingham's Shakespeare Institute. A theatre visit to London is always part of the course, as is a long weekend for individual travel to other areas of interest in England and on the continent.
