Transfer Student Scholarships

Paying for a college education in this day and age can be a daunting task. Hanover College offers a variety of scholarships for students.

Anticipated Transfer Scholarships to be awarded for the 2008-2009 year
Transfer Achievement Scholarships
Transfer Achievement Scholarships serve to recognize the overall academic achievement of transfer students. Awards attached to these two scholarships are based on academic accomplishment at previous institutions; co-curricular involvement and campus visit interactions come into play in difficult decisions (Schedule a Campus Visit). The amount and number of scholarships awarded in each category is determined on an annual basis according to the demographics of our transfer applicants.
PTK Achievement Scholarship
Awarded in recognition of transfer student membership in Phi Theta Kappa, academic honor society. Recipients of this scholarship will receive a minimum of $3,000 scholarship aid.
Garritt Achievement Scholarship
Awarded in honor of Joshua Bolles Garritt, a professor of Latin and Greek at Hanover from 1856 to 1906. Professor Garritt was described by students as an "ideal teacher" and a man of high character. He taught for 49 years from the same classroom and challenged students during his tenure to inquire deeply and act with character.
State Based Awards and Scholarships
Academic Honors Diploma Scholarship – A grant program committed to meeting 100% of Indiana student's demonstrated need. This grant will go to Indiana students who graduate with an Academic Honors Diploma (AHD), have completed their application for admission by January 15, and file a complete and valid FAFSA by March 10.
Buckeye Scholarship – For 2008-2009, this award will be in the amount of $3,000 per year. The Ohio Choice Grant is an important part of funding a college education for many Ohio students. Hanover College's Buckeye Scholarship is to reassure students that they can attend college outside of Ohio without sacrificing this valuable award. It is renewable each year provided a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA is maintained.
Keys Scholarship – For 2008-2009, this award will be in the amount of $3,000 per year. For many Kentucky students, the KEES Scholarship is an important part of funding a college education. Hanover College's Keys Scholarship is to reassure students that they can attend college outside of Kentucky without sacrificing this valuable award. It is renewable each year provided a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA is maintained.
Travel Grant
Come see what an environment of success looks like! A college visit is a crucial part of your college search. We also know that you need to see the spectacular beauty of our campus and experience the genuine friendly spirit of our community in order to fully understand how important this environment will be to your success. Applicants for Fall 2008 admission who do an official admission visit between September 1, 2007 and May 1, 2008 will receive a one-time $500 Hanover College Travel Grant as part of their first year financial assistance package.
Music Scholarships
Band, orchestral instruments, voice and piano scholarships are available through the Hanover College Music Department. Music majors and non-majors are eligible for the scholarships in the amount of $2,500 - $3,500. Auditions are held during annual Music Scholarship Audition days. Audition requirements can be found in the Music Scholarship Brochure. Scholarships are renewable each year at the discretion of the music faculty, based on accomplishment and end-of-year evaluation.

Theatre Scholarships
Theatre Scholarships are available through the Hanover College Theatre Department. Scholarships, in the amount of $2,500 - $3,500, are available to all new Hanover College students who intend to participate in any area of theatre, regardless of major. Requirements for consideration include a 20 minute appointment with a theatre faculty member during the annual Theatre Audition days. Interview/Audition Portfolio requirements can be found in the Theatre Scholarship Brochure. Scholarships are renewable each year based on theatre participation and faculty recommendation.

Legacy Award
Awarded to immediate relatives of Hanover College alumni and current students to remind us that the most important part of the College is not its buildings or picturesque setting but its people. This award is in the amount of $2,000 per year. It is renewable each year provided a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA is maintained.
