Why Have a Club Chapter?

As you know, there are many reasons to start and maintain an alumni club in your region. Some of the more beneficial are:

Degree Value: Through your club's involvement in the community, your degree will actually become more valuable because you will make the College more visible. More people will see Hanover as an outstanding school that produces exceptional graduates, like you, who involve themselves in their community and remain in contact with their alma mater.

Networking: As a participant in your club, you will have the opportunity to make new friends, business acquaintances, and personal contacts with alumni of accomplishment. Hanover alumni are pioneers and leaders in all areas of the business and educational world, and continued contact with each other will build friendships and partnerships that will be extremely beneficial to all involved. As a volunteer leader in your club, your efforts and dedication will not go unnoticed by those within the club.

Community: By organizing a local alumni club chapter, you can enable the alumni of your area to remain connected to one another and facilitate the bonds that all Hanover alumni share. In bringing together alumni from different generations and varied fields, you will help to create that sense of community that was shared while on campus. Extended to other clubs around the country and through the College, we can create a global community that can enhance the lives of all alumni and ensure that Hanover will continue to grow and evolve to remain one of the nations leading liberal arts colleges.

Communication: The club will provide a vehicle for two-way communication between the College and alumni. In this way, it will be easier for the College to communicate its developmental needs as well as academic progress, and alumni will have a forum in which to express their concerns, approval or lend comments to the College.

Personal Satisfaction: As a volunteer leader for your club, you can take pride in what you do. Dedication to your club's success will ensure great rewards for yourself, fellow alumni and Hanover College.

Hanover Club of Northern Indiana:  South Bend lunch & activities

Help establish a northern Indiana alumni club for Hanover College! We had our first alumni club get together in Fort Wayne for what is becoming an annual HC Global Pub Night (in 2010 it will be on February 11) and a lot of fun was had by all who could get there. Now we are scheduling our second northern Indiana event and hope you can join us. It will be Saturday, September 19, in South Bend. We are moving our venue further west in hopes of reaching our friends in the western part of Indiana.

We will all attempt to meet around 11:00-11:30 for a meet & greet, any "business" agenda, plus luncheon somewhere (location to be worked out…perhaps at the fairgrounds on the south side of town) and then help those who would like to tour go on trips to one or more of the following:

• Notre Dame campus (if enough people, I can arrange an escorted tour);
• Studebaker Museum
• College Football Hall of Fame

We would then try to reconnect at around 4:00 or 4:30 for final good-byes and a pay as you go dinner if some would like.

This is not intended as a fund raiser. Mike Brown, Class of '91 and Director of Annual Giving, will be joining us and will plan on updating all of us on the incoming freshman class for fall, the state of the HC strategic plan, what the economy has meant to HC, fall Homecoming, and more…but we are not looking for donations. We just want to reconnect with one another... some wonderful people recalling some shared experiences.

Can you join us? Bring your family along, bring a friend, or come alone... we just want you to be there. Whether you can make it or not, can we hear from you? Please email Mike Brown at brown@hanover.edu, write him in care of the college, or call him at 800/213-2179 (x 7034). Please let us know as soon as you can and what activities you would like to engage in so we can plan accordingly. Blessings... Jeff Blair, 1970
