Elmer Geissler '51
Elmer Geissler '51, has devoted his life to serving others, particularly his alma mater. He has only missed attending three Homecomings since graduating more than 50 years ago. Geissler helped re-establish the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity on campus and served as its president while a student. He has also been a member of the Alumni Board.
Professionally, he worked as the office manager for Joliet Equipment Corporation, but it is with his community service where Geissler has shown his commitment to others. His numerous affiliations include serving on the board of directors for the Salvation Army, the Girl Scouts, Kiwanis International, and the Joliet (Ill.) school board.
Geissler has been a member of Central Presbyterian Church for more than 60 years, volunteering countless hours to different programs and committees. The Joliet YMCA named him Lay Person of the Year; additionally, Geissler earned the Amador Award, which recognizes outstanding volunteer contribution, from the Kiwanis Club of Joliet. He has donated more than 1500 hours to Silver Cross Hospital as a courtesy-cart driver
At Hanover, he majored in business administration, played basketball, ran track and was a member of the Varsity H Club for four years.
