Richard Scamehorn '64
Richard G. Scamehorn '64, served as professor of chemistry at Ripon College in Wisconsin for almost forty years until his retirement in 2005. A dedicated teacher, he received multiple awards including the college's William Harley Barber Distinguished Professor, the Severy Award for Outstanding Teaching, Professor of the Year, and the Underkoffler Award for Outstanding Teaching.
With a primary research interest in radical chain nucleophilic substitution reactions, Scamehorn authored 19 papers in refereed journals and one book, along with 20 papers presented with undergraduates. More than 30 of his students earned advanced degrees in chemistry, biochemistry and medicine.
