Men's Basketball Coaches
Head Coach Jon Miller
Former Hanover standout Jon Miller is in his season season as the Panthers' head coach. He is the 21st coach in Hanover's basketball history and only the third on the Panthers' bench since 1965.
Miller, a 1997 Hanover graduate, returned to his alma mater after five seasons as the head coach at Defiance College (Ohio). He guided the Yellow Jackets to a 19-8 overall record in 2007/08, including the school's first outright Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championship (13-3). He was tabbed National Association of Basketball Coaches' Midwest District coach of the year and the Heartland Conference's coach of the year for the accomplishment.
Miller's squads posted a 67-63 record during his stint at Defiance, including a 36-17 record through his last two seasons with the program.
Miller was a four-year starter and three-time all-conference selection at Hanover during the mid-1990s. He was voted the team's most valuable player after the 1996-97 campaign and helped the Panthers earn NCAA tourney appearances in both 1995 and 1996.
A two-time team captain, he was a three-year recipient of the Hanover Scholar-Athlete Award and was honored as Hanover's outstanding senior athlete in 1997.
Following his collegiate playing career, Miller served as the top assistant at DePauw University from 1997 to 1999. He then joined Hanover's staff as an assistant in 1999.
While on the Panthers' sidelines, he helped the Panthers earn three consecutive Heartland Conference championships and three berths in the NCAA III national tournament. The program notched a 78-10 record during that span.
Miller earned his master's degree in recreation and sports management from Indiana State University.
He and his wife, Angela, a 1997 Hanover graduate, reside in Madison, Ind., with their children Luke, Jack and Audrey.
Scott Cutter, Assistant Coach
Scott Cutter is in his first season as an assistant coach with Hanover's basketball program.
Cutter previously worked as an assistant under current Hanover head coach Jon Miller at Defiance College (Ohio) from 2003-2007. He most-recently served as an assistant coach at Ohio Wesleyan University during the 2008-09 season.
In addition to collegiate teaching and coaching, Cutter has worked numerous basketball camps in the region and on the West Coast. He served as director of the Greater Columbus (Ohio) Basketball Camp and was associate director of the summer camp at Defiance. He also has worked at camps at Stanford Unviersity (Calif.), Gonzaga University (Wash.), University of Cincinnati, Xavier University and Miami University (Ohio).
Cutter received a bachelor's degree from Wilmington College (Ohio) in 2002. He earned a master's degree from Defiance in 2007.
Brady Wells, Assistant Coach
Veteran high school coach Brady Wells is in his second season with Hanover's program.
Wells, high school health and physical education teacher, coached the boys' basketball teams at Salem (Ind.) High School and Scottsburg (Ind.) High School from 1998-2008. He guided those programs to a combined 234-130 record, including five conference titles, four sectional championships, a regional crown and two appearances in Indiana's Elite Eight.
A 1983 Hanover graduate, Wells was a standout cross country and track & field athlete for the Panthers.
He resides in Scottsburg with his wife, Julie, a 1984 Hanover graduate, and children Lauren and Logan.
