Hanover competes in 71st annual Little State
Hanover College's women's and men's cross country teams participated in the 71st annual Indiana Intercollegiate Championships. The meet was held Friday, Sept. 18, in Terre Haute, Ind.
Hanover's women's squad placed 12th out of 14 schools in the Little State meet. The Panthers totaled 297 points to finish ahead of Vincennes University (414) and Earlham College (421).
Sophomore Rachael Moreland (Lawton, Mich.) and junior Shawna McLetchie (Lexington, Ky.) led the Panthers with back-to-back finishes. Moreland placed 47th with a time of 21:26. McLetchie was one second behind in the 48th spot in 21:26.
Sophomore Sara Lucas (Avon, ind.) finished 61st overall in 21:58. Senior Angie Sells (Pekin, Ind.) was 70th in 22:21 and sophomore Whitney Helton (Winslow, Ind.) placed 71st in 22:22.
DePauw University won the Little State team championship with 38 points. The Tigers' Lauren Reich was the top individual in the five-kilometer race with a time of 18:17.
Hanover's was last among 14 squads in the men's eight-kilometer event. The Panthers totaled 365 points and finished just behind Grace College (364).
Sophomore Shawn Van Hoose (Floyds Knobs, Ind.) led Hanover with a 60th-place finish in 29:10. Freshman Brock Harkness (Indianapolis, Ind.) was 65th with a time of 29:24. Sophomore Andrew Kinman (Greenwood, Ind.) finished 72nd in 29:48.
Manchester College captured the Little State team title with 49 points. The Spartans' Andy Williams earned first place in the race with a time of 26:01.
