Harriers participate in Greater Louisville Classic
Hanover College's women's and men's cross country teams competed in the Greater Louisville Classic. The annual meet, which includes races for both NCAA Division I schools and small colleges, was held Saturday, Oct. 3, at E.P. Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky.
The Hanover women's team placed 17th out of 35 teams in the "Blue" event. Panthers totaled 430 points. A squad from the University of Kentucky won the meet with 75 points. Lindenwood University (Mo.) was second with 117 points.
Junior Shawna McLetchie (Lexington, Ky.) along with sophomores Rachael Moreland (Lawton, Mich.) and Sarah Lucas (Avon, Ind.), led Hanover's effort in the five-kilometer race.
McLetchie finished 59th out of 298 runners with a time of 20:37.40. Moreland was 95th in 21:09.95, while Lucas placed 97th in 21:10.88.
Lindenwood's Francince Nzilampa won the women's race with a time of 18:01.65.
Hanover's men's team totaled 830 points for a 28th-place finish in a 33-team field. Lindenwood captured the men's team title with 61 points.
Sophomore Andrew Kinman (Greenwood, Ind.) paced the Panthers with a 151st-place finish out of 331 athletes. Kinman posted a time of 28:30.10 on the eight-kilometer course.
Freshman Brock Harkness (Indianapolis, Ind.) was 208th in 29:43.50.
Lindenwood's Mustapha Habbani won the event in 25:33.33.
