Early Bird Meet, March 21

Sells & Lucas lead Panthers at Early Bird
The Hanover College women's and men's track & field squads participated in the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology's Early Bird Meet Saturday, March 21, in Terre Haute, Ind.

Junior Angie Sells (Pekin, Ind.) and freshman Sara Lucas (Avon, Ind.) paced Hanover's women's team's effort in the non-scored meet with a pair of first-place finishes.

Sells won the 5,000-meters by more than 90 seconds with a time of 20:25.58. Lucas, who won by more than four seconds, captured the top spot in the 800-meters in 2:25.81.

Freshman Kristina Keith (Munster, Ind.) turned in Hanover's top women's performance in the sprints. She posted a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 15.39 seconds.

Juniors Zach Sieg (Anderson, Ind.) and Corry Stewart (Nashville, Tenn.), along with freshman Stephen Carter (Bloomington, Ind.), led Hanover's men's squad by placing in multiple events.

Sieg earned second-place finishes in both the hammer throw and shot put. He covered a distance of 144-feet, 10-inches in the hammer. He had an effort of 48-feet, 2.75-inches in the shot put.

In both events, he placed second behind athletes from the University of Wisconsin. 

Stewart finished second in the long jump with a leap of 20-feet, 1.75-inches. He was fifth in the high jump with an effort of five-feet, 10.5-inches.

Carter placed third in the hammer with a throw of 139-feet, six-inches. He was fourth in the shot put with a 41-foot, 9.25-inch put.

Junior Joseph Vormohr (Portland, Ind.) led the Panthers' effort in the discus. Vormohr placed third among 17 athletes with a throw of 139 feet.
