Netters edged by RHIT to end regular season

The Hanover College's men's tennis squad's regular season came to an end with a 5-4 loss to the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The match was held Sunday, April 29, in Terre Haute, Ind.

Hanover dropped two of three doubles matches, but battled to win three of the six singles contests.

Senior Kyle Bohnert (Louisville, Ky.) and junior Steven Gilliam (Fishers, Ind.) paired for an 8-1 victory against Rose-Hulman's Stephan Lemmer and Ian Stevenson at No. 2 doubles.

Bohnert, classmate Matt Strandmark (Madison, Ind.) and freshman Max Erlewein (Cambridge City, Ind.) notched singles wins for the Panthers.

Bohnert, in the No. 3 slot, handled the Engineers' Nathan Moore, 6-2, 6-2. Erlewein defeated Stevenson, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 4. Strandmark outdueled Lemmer, 7-6 (7-5), 6-0, at No. 5.

Hanover, 8-9 overall, finished with a 4-5 mark in Heartland Conference matches.

Rose-Hulman raised its record to 9-6 overall and 6-3 in the league.
