Senior middle distance ace Sara Lucas (Avon, Ind.) further strengthened her place in the Hanover College record books, breaking her own school record in the 800-meter run at the University of Louisville Cardinal Twilight. The meet was held Friday, May 11th in Louisville, Ky.
Competing against a largely NCAA Division I field, Lucas ran 2:19.38 to best her previous record of 2:20.82 set in 2011.
Junior hurdler Lexi Vincz (Greenfield, Ind.) narrowly missed breaking her own record in the 400 hurdles - also set in 2011. Vincz ran 1:04.88 to finish 10th overall, just shy of her 1:04.71 record. The mark was a season-best performance.
Senior distance runner and 1500-meter record-holder Rachael Moreland (Lawton, Mich.), was on record-setting pace through 1,200 meters before fading in the last 300 meters to fall short in her record-breaking attempt. Her 4:53.63 placed third in her heat and is one of the top times in Hanover history.
