Hanover College’s volleyball squad split a pair of matches to close action in the Maryville College Invitational. The contests were held Saturday, Sept. 1, in Maryville, Tenn.
Hanover held off Centre College (Ky.) for a 25-17, 26-24, 23-25, 27-29, 15-12, victory to tip off the day’s action.
Senior middle hitter Sarah Quebe (Indianapolis, Ind.) collected 15 kills, four blocks and two aces to lead the charge.
Sophomore outside Jenny Merritt (Indianapolis, Ind.) posted a career-best 12 kills and four blocks.
Setters Kelsey Wagner (Taylor Mill, Ky.) and Alli Deaton (Lexington, Ky.) combined for 45 assists to jump-start the Panthers’ offense. Wagner had a career-high 24 assists, while Deaton added 21.
Junior return specialist Kylie Justus (Crawfordsville, Ind.) tallied a season-high 35 digs. She also added three aces.
Hanover, 2-2 on the season, capped the tournament with a three-set loss to No. 4 Emory University (Ga.). The Eagles swept the Panthers 25-20, 25-20, 25-13, to improve to 4-0.
Quebe led Hanover with five kills and four blocks.
Justus had 17 digs and an ace, while Wagner totaled eight assists.
