The Hanover College men’s soccer team’s three-match unbeaten streak was snapped with a 3-0 loss at Olivet College (Mich.). The match was played Sunday, Sept. 16, as part of the Alma College/Olivet College Showcase in Olivet, Mich.
Hanover, now 2-3-2 on the season, had put together a 2-0-1 streak in the past week, including a 0-0, double-overtime tie against No. 25 DePauw University Sept. 12.
Olivet outshot the Panthers 29-5, including a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Comets also earned 10 corner kicks, while Hanover did not have one.
Kyle Cupp scored two first-half goals for Olivet (6-0-1). Cupp knocked in a header off a corner kick in the sixth minute, then converted in the 38th minute following in a throw-in to bump the margin to 2-0.
The Comets' Esteban Russell scored in the 56th minute for the final margin.
Sophomore Trevor Korfhagen (Cincinnati, Ohio) posted five saves and allowed three goals through 67 minutes in Hanover’s net. Sophomore Ryan Marks (Oxford, Ohio) had two saves to close the match.
