Reynolds' goal tops Little Giants

A header by junior Carson Reynolds (Lexington, Ky.) in the 75th minute broke a 1-1 deadlock as the Hanover College men’s soccer team defeated Wabash College 2-1. The match was held Wednesday, Sept 19, at the L.S. Ayres Athletic Complex.

Wabash cracked the scoring column first as Ben Sia corralled a Hanover header and landed a shot early in the 11th minute.

Despite having seven shots on goal in the first period, the Panthers were unable to score, entering the second period down 1-0.

Eight minutes later, sophomore defender Ryan Moriarty (Louisville, Ky.) drilled a penalty kick to the right of the keeper to tie the match at 1-1.

The two sides continued to trade possessions, before Reynolds headed in a cross from senior midfielder Bob Waldren (Indianapolis, Ind.) to secure the lead for good.

The win evens the Panthers’ record at 3-3-2. Wabash, meanwhile lost its fourth match in a row to dip to 2-6.

Hanover outshot the Little Giants 9-8, but Wabash enjoyed a 4-2 corner kick advantage.

Sophomore goalkeeper John Seewer (Louisville, Ky.) recorded three saves in the winning effort.
