Hanover College’s women’s tennis team evened its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference record at 2-2 with a 7-2 victory against Earlham College. The HCAC tilt was played Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Zeddies Tennis Center.
Hanover posted wins in five of the six singles matches and two of the three doubles matches to dispatch the Quakers.
Senior Ashton Kelsay (North Vernon, Ind.) and sophomore Kelsey Jones (Hanover, Ind.) each had a hand in two victories to spark the Panthers.
Kelsay paired with senior Paige Spalding (Louisville, Ky.) to earn an 8-5 win against Earlham’s Jessica Childs and Stasia Vladimirova at No. 2 doubles.
Kelsay later blanked Maya Cooper, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5 singles.
Jones teamed with senior Kim Fong (Nashville, Ind.) for an 8-0 victory against the Quakers’ Cooper and Joanne Huang at No. 3 doubles.
She then defeated Childs 6-1, 6-3, at No. 3 singles.
Hanover is now 3-3 overall this season. Earlham dipped to 3-2 overall and 2-2 in the league.
