The Hanover College women’s tennis team overcame a rain delay to sweep Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference-opponent Bluffton University (Ohio.) The match was held Saturday, Sept. 22, in Bluffton, Ohio.
The win improved Hanover's Heartland Conference record to 3-2, moving the team into fourth place in the league.
The Panthers began the match by winning all three doubles matches, only allowing the Beavers to capture three games.
After a brief rain delay, Hanover picked up where it left off, winning every singles match.
Freshman Alexis Taylor (Frankfort, Ind.), playing number one singles, topped Caitlin Nearhood, 6-1, 6-1, to lead the Panthers.
Sophomore Kelsey Jones (Hanover, Ind.) was the lone Hanover player to play both doubles and singles. Jones paired with sophomore Stephanie Kirk (Milan, Ind.) to defeat Ashley Jones and Alex Fox, 8-1.
Jones also topped Melissa Hostetler 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
