Sophomore Brooke McKay (Carmel, Ind.) captured medalist honors to lead Hanover College’s women’s golf team at the Small College Classic. The 36-hole tournament was played Sept. 22-23 at Deer Creek Golf Club in Clayton, Ind.
Trailing by two strokes after the first day of competition, McKay roared back to win by two shots with a two-round total of 159 (80-79). The effort marked her first collegiate title and ninth top-five finish.
Hanover placed third among 11 teams in the field. The Panthers totaled 693 (348-345) to land behind host DePauw University (662) and Wittenberg University (669).
Senior Becky Roberts (Avon, Ind.) earned a 10th-place finish with a two-day total of 170 (84-86). Junior Sloane Hamilton (Mason, Ohio) posted back-to-back rounds of 89 to finish 21st among 70 athletes with a 178. Freshman Brittany Mosteller (Indianapolis, Ind.) was 32nd with a 186 (95-91).
Denison University (Ohio) freshman Brynn FitzGerald was second overall with a 161 (83-78) on the par-72, 5,803-yard course.
