Hanover College’s women’s tennis team lost to the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, 8-1, in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match Saturday, Sept. 29, in Terre Haute, Ind.
Freshman Alexis Taylor (Frankfort, Ind.) recorded Hanover’s victory in the match. Taylor defeated the Engineers’ Melissa Montgomery, 7-5, 6-2, at No. 2 singles.
Senior Paige Spalding (Louisville, Ky.) was involved in two of the most hotly-contested matches between the teams.
Spalding, pairing with senior Ashton Kelsay (North Vernon, Ind.), fell 9-7 against Rose-Hulman’s Kylie McCollum and Lauren Reberger at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, Spalding was edged by Reberger, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (12-10), at No. 6.
The loss evened Hanover’s record at 4-4 overall and 3-3 in the Heartland Conference. Rose-Hulman, meanwhile, raised its mark to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in the league.
